PM Modi Praises BJP Win in Goa Zilla Panchayat Polls

PM Narendra Modi on Monday thanked the people of Goa for supporting the BJP–MGP-led NDA in the recent Zilla Panchayat elections. He said the election result showed that Goa stands with good governance and progressive politics.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to voters for blessing the BJP–MGP (NDA) alliance. He said the mandate would give fresh energy to efforts focused on Goa’s overall development and growth. PM Modi added that the NDA remains fully committed to fulfilling the hopes and aspirations of the people of the state.

The Prime Minister also praised the hard work of party workers at the grassroots level. He said the dedication and efforts of NDA karyakartas on the ground played an important role in securing the result. According to him, their constant connect with people helped the alliance gain public trust.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also welcomed the election outcome and hailed the BJP’s performance. He said the BJP emerged as the number one party in the Zilla Panchayat elections. In a post on X, Sawant thanked the people of Goa for trusting the BJP and congratulated the newly elected Zilla Panchayat members from the BJP–MGP alliance.

Sawant said the result reflected people’s faith in the “Double Engine Sarkar” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also acknowledged the guidance of BJP’s national leadership. The Chief Minister praised party workers in Goa for their efforts and said the BJP-led alliance would continue to work for development, transparent governance, and the vision of Viksit Goa and Viksit Bharat.

In terms of numbers, the BJP emerged as the single largest party by winning 23 out of 50 Zilla Panchayat seats. However, the party’s seat count fell from 33 in the previous elections. The Congress improved its performance, increasing its tally from four seats earlier to nine seats this time. The remaining seats were won by regional parties and independent candidates.

The rural local body elections were held for two Zilla Parishads—North Goa and South Goa. More than six lakh voters participated in the polls. For these elections, the BJP had formed an alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), while the Congress contested in alliance with the Goa Forward Party.

Despite a drop in seats, BJP leaders said the results showed continued public support for the party’s development agenda in Goa.
