iPhone 17 Review: The Smartest iPhone Choice This Year

The iPhone 17 is not just another yearly update from Apple — it’s the most balanced and sensible option in the lineup this year. Priced at ₹82,900 for the 256GB model, it brings several Pro-level features while staying more affordable.

Sleek Design, Familiar Feel

At first glance, the iPhone 17 looks a lot like its predecessor, the iPhone 16. It keeps the same glass and aluminium design, with rounded corners and a matte back. The phone is slightly thicker and heavier to fit a bigger battery, but it still feels comfortable to hold. Apple has added stronger Ceramic Shield 2 protection, which resists scratches better than before.

The phone comes in elegant colours like Black, White, Mist Blue, Sage, and Lavender. It also keeps the useful Action and Camera Control buttons and has an IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating.

Brighter Display, Smoother Experience

The iPhone 17’s 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display is one of its biggest upgrades. It now supports a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate — a feature once limited to Pro models. This makes scrolling, gaming, and animations look smoother. The screen can reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, which helps with outdoor visibility.

The anti-reflective coating isn’t a huge change, but the display itself feels much more premium. Combined with excellent colour accuracy, watching movies or playing games on this phone is a treat.

Power and Performance

Powered by Apple’s A19 chip and 8GB RAM, the iPhone 17 handles everyday tasks and heavy games with ease. It runs on iOS 26, which brings new AI-powered features and a fresh design. However, the software still needs polishing — with minor bugs like slower app loading and Face ID delays.

The cameras get meaningful upgrades too. There’s a 48MP main and 48MP ultra-wide lens, both offering crisp and bright photos. The 18MP selfie camera performs well in all lighting conditions.

Final Verdict

With its bright screen, strong performance, and solid cameras, the iPhone 17 offers nearly everything most users need — without spending extra on the Pro models.
