BJP Prepares Busy Weekend of Meets Before VP Poll

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a hectic weekend in Delhi as it prepares for the vice-presidential election on September 9, 2025. The ruling party has planned a series of strategy sessions, training workshops, and dinners to ensure maximum participation from its Members of Parliament (MPs).

Packed Schedule for MPs

The schedule begins on Saturday, September 6, when BJP national president JP Nadda will host a dinner for MPs from both Houses of Parliament. The following day, Sunday, will see day-long training sessions at the Balayogi Auditorium inside Parliament. Nadda, along with several Union Ministers, will address the lawmakers and provide key instructions ahead of the election.

The training continues on Monday, September 8, from 3 pm to 6 pm. To keep MPs in Delhi, the party has asked NDA lawmakers who chair parliamentary committees to hold their meetings the same day. This ensures no member misses the strategy sessions or the final preparations.

This style of preparation is not new for the BJP. The last such major training exercise, called a “Karyashala,” took place on August 4, 2019, a day before the government announced the revocation of Article 370. That event was personally attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showing the importance the party attaches to such gatherings.

Prime Minister’s Dinner Before Poll

On Monday evening, just hours before voting day, Prime Minister Modi will host dinner for NDA MPs and alliance leaders at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. His address on the eve of the polls is expected to motivate MPs and underline the significance of the election.

Polling for the vice-presidential post will be held on September 9, with results expected the same day. The NDA has nominated Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate. While the Opposition has also put forward a nominee, the numbers are in favor of the ruling alliance, which enjoys a majority in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Still, senior BJP leaders are leaving no room for error and are working to secure every single vote.
