The OnePlus 15 is making waves even before its official launch, expected in October in China. This flagship phone will bring big changes, especially in the camera department, as the company ends its five-year partnership with Swedish camera maker Hasselblad.
New In-House Camera Engine
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed that the OnePlus 15 will feature a new DetailMax Camera Engine, developed in-house by the company. This engine is designed to deliver more natural and realistic images with sharper clarity. Lau said the engine is still in the early prototype phase but early results look promising. This marks the first time OnePlus will use its own image engine in a smartphone.
The new camera engine is expected to bring stronger low-light photography, better skin tones, and improved dynamic range. According to leaks, the phone could sport a 50-megapixel triple rear camera setup with a redesigned square-shaped camera module, moving away from the circular design used earlier.
Next-Gen Display from BOE
Alongside the camera upgrade, tipster Digital Chat Station claims the OnePlus 15 will debut with a third-generation BOE “Oriental” display, which is said to be one of the best screens available in the smartphone market. Reports suggest it will be a 6.78-inch flat LTPO panel with 1.5K resolution and a smooth 165Hz refresh rate, offering a top-notch visual experience.
Powerful Specs and Fast Charging
The phone is also rumored to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC, making it one of the most powerful Android devices. Battery upgrades are also expected, with leaks pointing to a 7,000mAh (or larger) pack, alongside 100W wired fast charging. A certification listing has also hinted at 120W charging support, which could make it one of the fastest-charging phones around.
With these upgrades, the OnePlus 15 looks set to be a major competitor in the flagship segment, combining camera innovations, a world-class display, and powerful hardware.
