TVS Leads, Hero and Ather Gain, Ola Drops
Electric two-wheeler (e-2W) sales in India have crossed 700,000 units in the first seven months of 2025. This is 62% of the total e-2Ws sold in the whole of 2024. However, sales in July 2025 dropped by 4% year-on-year due to a shortage of rare earth magnets, which slowed down production.
TVS on Top, Ola Falls Behind
TVS Motor Company remains the top seller for the fourth month in a row, selling 22,242 iQube scooters in July. Bajaj Auto came second with 19,669 Chetak units. Ola Electric, once a clear market leader, saw a 57% drop in sales, selling only 17,850 units in July.
Meanwhile, Ather Energy and Hero MotoCorp saw strong growth. Ather sold 16,241 scooters, up 59% from last year. Hero MotoCorp crossed the 10,000 monthly mark for the first time, with 10,495 Vida scooters sold — a jump of 107% year-on-year.
More Players Show Growth
Greaves Electric Mobility, maker of Ampere scooters, sold 4,197 units in July, marking a 33% rise. Other brands like Bgauss Auto, River Mobility, and Kinetic Green also made it to the top 10 e-2W list for the month.
Even though overall monthly growth has slowed due to supply issues, the market still looks promising. With five months left in the year, the total e-2W sales are expected to cross last year’s record of 1.14 million units.
New launches, better battery range, and lower prices are helping boost sales for several brands. Hero’s new Vida VX2 and Ather’s Rizta S are attracting budget-conscious customers.
India continues to lead the electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler markets globally, with rising demand for clean, low-cost mobility.
