Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are already making headlines, even though their launch is still months away. New leaks suggest that Apple may not change the front design as much as earlier rumours claimed.
Recent reports say Apple will keep the centred front camera cutout and Dynamic Island, instead of shifting it to the top-left corner. Earlier leaks about a left-aligned camera were likely due to translation mistakes. By keeping the camera and sensors in the centre, Apple can maintain a balanced screen look and ensure Face ID works smoothly.
Instead of removing the Dynamic Island, Apple may make it smaller. Some Face ID parts, like the flood illuminator, could move under the display. Other sensors may stay near the selfie camera. This would reduce the cutout size without affecting its functions. Display analyst Ross Young has also said that putting all Face ID components under the screen is still difficult, so Apple is expected to take this step-by-step approach.
In terms of display, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to get a 6.27-inch Super Retina display, while the Pro Max could feature a 6.86-inch screen. Both models are likely to support a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother scrolling and animations.
On the back, Apple may continue with a triple-camera setup. However, leaks suggest upgrades like a variable aperture, a stacked image sensor, and better low-light photography.
For performance, both phones are expected to run on the new A20 Pro chip, built using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. This should improve speed, efficiency, and heat control. The Pro Max model may also come with a larger 5,100mAh battery and Apple’s new C2 modem, which could offer faster and more stable 5G connectivity.
Overall, the iPhone 18 Pro series may focus more on refinement and performance rather than major design changes.
