OpenAI has announced plans to enter the hiring space with a brand-new AI-powered jobs platform, set to launch by mid-2026. The platform will directly compete with LinkedIn by using artificial intelligence to connect professionals with companies based on specific skills.
How the Platform Will Work
According to OpenAI, the Jobs Platform will use advanced AI to match the right candidates with the right employers. It will focus not just on large companies, but also offer a separate track for local businesses and governments, giving them access to AI talent. One of its early partners, the Texas Association of Business, will use it to connect local employers with skilled professionals.
The company says the platform will include experienced candidates at all levels, from beginners to seasoned professionals. This could make it a go-to place for anyone who wants to put their skills to use in the growing AI-driven job market.
Expanding OpenAI Academy with Certifications
Alongside the jobs platform, OpenAI is also working on OpenAI Certifications, which will be offered through the OpenAI Academy. These certifications will test different levels of AI fluency and will be available inside ChatGPT. Courses will cover everything from basic AI use at work to advanced topics like prompt engineering.
What makes this different is that OpenAI plans to use AI itself to teach learners, making the courses more practical than traditional “click-through” certificates. This step aims to build real skills and create trust among employers about a candidate’s expertise.
Preparing for the Future of Work
Fidji Simi, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, said AI is not going to take away jobs but will change the job market by creating new roles that don’t exist today. OpenAI hopes its platform will help people prepare for this future by connecting them with opportunities while ensuring companies can find the talent they need.
By combining an AI-powered hiring system with trusted certification programs, OpenAI is positioning itself as a strong rival to LinkedIn. With the official launch planned for 2026, the competition in the professional networking space is set to heat up.
