Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has partnered with the Maharashtra government to improve a 100-year-old government school in Bidkin village, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. On July 30, 2025, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Zilla Parishad to develop infrastructure at the Zilla Parishad Kendriya Prathamik School (ZPKPS).
The school currently serves more than 800 students from underprivileged families, and this number is expected to grow to 1,200 soon. To meet this need, Toyota will help upgrade the school facilities over the next three years, from 2025 to 2028.
The signing event took place at the Collector Office, with key district officials and Toyota executives in attendance. Shri Deelip Swami, Collector and District Magistrate, and Shri Ankit, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, represented the local government. Toyota was represented by Mr. Sudeep Dalvi, Chief Communication Officer and Senior Vice President.
This initiative is part of Toyota’s commitment to community development. The company follows a “child-to-community” model, focusing on early education, school infrastructure, and access to learning materials. Their broader goal, called “Samuday Vikas,” or community development, guides these efforts.
Toyota is also expanding its operations in Maharashtra by setting up a new manufacturing facility. The school project aligns with national programs like Skill India, the National Education Policy, and missions such as Swachh Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.
By creating a modern and inclusive learning space, TKM hopes to support the school’s role in educating children from all economic backgrounds. This is Toyota’s first major educational project in Maharashtra, and it shows the company’s growing presence and long-term commitment to the state.
As of March 2025, Toyota’s CSR work has impacted more than 4.24 million people in India. Their CSR focus includes education, health, environment, skill development, road safety, and disaster relief. They also run an employee volunteering program called iCARE.
The Bidkin school upgrade is a step toward providing better education and equal opportunities for all.
