WhatsApp has rolled out a new update packed with fresh features for both Android and iOS users. The update introduces support for Live Photos and Motion Photos, AI-powered customisation tools, and fun new sticker packs, making chats and calls more engaging.
Live Photos and Motion Photos
One of the biggest highlights of the update is support for Live Photos on iOS and Motion Photos on Android. These are short clips with sound that capture moments a few seconds before and after a photo is taken. With this addition, users can now share more dynamic memories directly through WhatsApp.
AI-Powered Customisations
WhatsApp is also leveraging Meta’s AI to give users greater personalisation options. With simple prompts, users can now create custom chat themes generated by AI. The same technology can also be used to design backgrounds for video calls or when sharing photos and videos in chats. These tools promise to make conversations more visually appealing.
However, WhatsApp clarified that Meta AI features will only be available in selected countries for now. They support multiple languages, including English, Arabic, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese.
New Stickers and Smarter Search
To enhance conversations further, WhatsApp has added new sticker packs such as Fearless Bird, School Days, and Vacation. These packs allow users to better express moods and feelings in their chats.
Another practical upgrade is the improved group search feature. Even if users cannot recall the group’s name, they can simply search by entering the name of a participant. WhatsApp will then display all groups shared with that contact, making navigation easier.
Document Scanning for Android
The update also introduces a document scanning feature for Android users, which was previously available only on iOS. This allows users to scan, crop, save, and share documents directly within the app, eliminating the need for third-party tools.
With its mix of creative, fun, and practical features, WhatsApp’s latest update shows the platform’s commitment to blending AI innovation with everyday communication tools.
