Google Adds Song Search History to Android

Google has rolled out a new feature for Android users that allows them to check the history of songs they have searched for using Circle to Search. This feature, which was first tested on iOS earlier this year, is now available on Android devices with the Google app’s stable version 16.27.

Song Search History Feature

The Song Search feature, which lets users identify songs by playing, humming, or singing, now includes a history icon on the top-right corner of the interface. Tapping on this icon displays a list of recently searched songs, complete with album art, title, artist name, and search time. Users can view up to 10 recent searches, neatly grouped by month.

At the bottom of this list, a “Show full history” button links to Google’s My Activity page, which displays all previously searched songs. While this page lacks album artwork, it still shows the song title, artist, and timestamp for each search.

Easy Access and iOS Comparison

The feature is also accessible through a home screen shortcut, making it easier for users to revisit songs they have previously identified. Interestingly, iOS users have enjoyed this capability since February 2025, when Google initially introduced it to Apple devices. The feature’s arrival on Android was hinted at in February through an APK teardown, but it took a few months for Google to add a proper user interface.

Broader Rollout

Google started rolling out the feature to beta testers in April 2025, and it has now become available to all Android users running the latest app version. This update complements other AI-driven features of Google’s Circle to Search, enhancing the user experience by allowing them to track and revisit their past music discoveries.

With this update, Android users can now easily keep a record of all their searched songs without the need to remember or manually save them. This is particularly helpful for music enthusiasts who often identify songs while on the go.
