Rahul Gandhi warns politics heading toward ‘darkness’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that modern politics and international relations are moving toward “darkness” instead of knowledge and understanding. He made these remarks while speaking at an event in Kollam on Friday.

Gandhi, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said people today often respond to disagreements with anger and violence rather than trying to understand each other. According to him, this problem can be seen both in domestic politics and in relations between countries.

He said that in international politics, many countries no longer try to understand one another. Instead, conflicts often lead to violence and military action. Gandhi said this growing trend is dangerous and moves the world away from peace and cooperation.

The Congress leader made these comments while attending an event marking the 100th anniversary of a historic meeting between Mahatma Gandhi and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru. He said both leaders believed strongly in peace, love, respect, forgiveness, and understanding among people.

Gandhi also said that the values taught by Mahatma Gandhi and Narayana Guru are reflected in the Constitution of India. He described both leaders as great teachers who showed the right path for society.

During his speech, Rahul Gandhi said that paying tribute to great leaders is easy, but following their teachings in daily life is much harder. He urged people to truly adopt the values of truth and non-violence rather than only remembering them during ceremonies.

He also spoke about the difference between “force” and “power.” Referring to India’s freedom struggle, Gandhi said the British Empire had force because it controlled armies and weapons. However, he said Mahatma Gandhi had true power because he stood for truth and non-violence.

Rahul Gandhi said Narayana Guru also showed that real influence does not come from wealth or strength but from ideas and values. He concluded by saying that violence and hatred cannot achieve lasting success, while truth and non-violence remain the real strength of society.
