Narendra Modi has achieved a major milestone by becoming the longest-serving elected head of government in India. He has completed 8,931 days in office, breaking the previous record held by Pawan Kumar Chamling, who served 8,930 days.
This record includes Modi’s time as Chief Minister of Gujarat and his tenure as Prime Minister. With this achievement, he has now entered his 25th year in a leadership role, marking a long and consistent political journey.
Modi first became Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001 and held the position for more than 13 years. In May 2014, he took oath as India’s 14th Prime Minister. He made history by becoming the first non-Congress leader to win a full majority in the Lok Sabha. He later secured two more victories in 2019 and 2024, becoming one of the few leaders to win three consecutive general elections.
Over the years, Modi has set several records. He is the longest-serving Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister with the most experience as a state leader before taking national office. He is also the first Prime Minister born after India’s Independence.
Apart from politics, Modi has built a strong presence on digital platforms. He recently crossed 30 million subscribers on YouTube, making him one of the most followed global leaders online. On Instagram, he crossed 100 million followers, becoming the first serving world leader to reach this mark.
Currently, he has over 101 million followers on Instagram and more than 106 million followers on X (formerly Twitter). His strong digital reach reflects his ability to connect with people across India and the world.
This milestone highlights Modi’s long-standing influence in Indian politics and his continued public support.
