Maruti Suzuki India Limited reached its significant sustainable transportation advancement through its Manesar facility which has shipped 100000 vehicles within nine months after beginning operations in June 2025. The company said this achievement has helped avoid nearly 16,800 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The company demonstrates its dedication to environmental sustainability through its green logistics operations which enable it to decrease its environmental footprint.

The Manesar facility stands as the most extensive automobile in-plant railway siding system found throughout India. The facility represents the company’s second terminal which operates under the PM GatiShakti initiative following its terminal in Gujarat. The company uses this hub to transport vehicles which it manufactures at its Gurugram and Manesar facilities to various locations throughout India.

The railway siding has delivered popular vehicles which include Alto WagonR Brezza Dzire Ertiga Celerio XL6 Eeco and Super Carry. More than 500 train rakes have delivered vehicles to approximately 380 cities throughout India using 17 major hubs.

Hisashi Takeuchi stated that this milestone demonstrates the company’s dedication to decreasing carbon emissions while reducing road traffic. He said the Manesar siding has the capacity to dispatch up to 4.5 lakh vehicles every year when fully utilised.

Maruti Suzuki has been increasing its use of railways for vehicle transport over the years. The share of rail transport in its logistics has grown from just 5 percent in 2016 to 26 percent in 2025. The company now plans to increase this share further to 35 percent by the financial year 2030-31.

Maruti Suzuki became the first automobile company in India to receive an Automobile Freight Train Operator (AFTO) license when it obtained the license in 2013. Since then, it has transported over 29.5 lakh vehicles through rail.

This initiative supports global climate goals while showing the company’s commitment to creating a cleaner and more sustainable future.
