Kerala BJP Leader Denies Sexual Harassment Allegations

Kerala BJP Leader Rejects Sexual Harassment Allegations

BJP Kerala Vice President C Krishnakumar has denied allegations of sexual harassment made against him, saying the charges are false and politically motivated. He claimed the complaint was an attempt to weaken his party’s protests against Congress leader and Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who himself faces multiple accusations of misconduct.

Krishnakumar Rejects Charges

A woman filed a complaint with Kerala BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, alleging that Krishnakumar sexually assaulted her a few years ago. She also claimed she had earlier approached BJP leaders V Muraleedharan, MT Ramesh, and Subhash (then Organisation General Secretary), but no action was taken.

The complainant argued that Krishnakumar had no moral authority to lead protests against Mamkootathil and urged the BJP to expel him from the party.

Responding to the allegations, Krishnakumar said:

“If anyone thinks they can threaten me with these accusations and stop the protests against Rahul Mamkootathil, they are wrong. The people of Palakkad know there is no truth in the charges.”

Allegations Against Congress MLA

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, elected from Palakkad in 2024, has also been facing sexual harassment claims. Malayalam actress Rini Ann George accused him of repeatedly sending offensive messages and inviting her to a hotel. Following her revelations, several other women and even a transgender person came forward with similar allegations.

Due to these accusations, Mamkootathil resigned as Youth Congress state president and was suspended from the party’s primary membership. Reacting to the charges, he described George as his “friend” and said he would pursue legal action if any official complaint was filed.

A Political Flashpoint

Krishnakumar has been a prominent face of the BJP in Palakkad for years and is currently leading strong protests against Mamkootathil. His denial of allegations adds another twist to the political storm in Kerala, where both BJP and Congress leaders are battling accusations of sexual misconduct.

As both parties face internal pressure and public scrutiny, the controversy has sparked debates about accountability, leadership, and women’s safety in political spaces.
