Samsung continues to lead the foldable phone market, and the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 shows how far the brand has come. Priced from Rs. 1,09,999, this phone is slimmer, sleeker, and comes with a bigger cover display. But while the design shines, the software and battery still leave room for improvement.
Design
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has received a complete refresh. It’s thinner when folded and unfolded, with a sturdier hinge that makes the crease less noticeable. The wider main display makes typing and viewing content easier compared to older models and even rivals like Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra. At just 188g, it feels light and balanced.
However, the smooth matte finish and flat sides make the phone slippery, and it’s not easy to open with one hand. A case is almost necessary to avoid drops. The hinge snaps shut firmly, but opening it can be tricky without extra grip.
Display
The cover screen is now 4.1 inches, brighter, sharper, and almost bezel-free. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and looks stunning outdoors. Samsung has done a better job with camera cutouts this time, leaving more usable space.
The main 7-inch AMOLED display is bright, supports HDR10+, and offers vivid visuals, though HDR playback on Netflix feels slightly dim. The crease is less visible than before, and the display holds up well against scratches.
Software
Running Android 16 with One UI 8, the Z Flip 7 promises 7 years of updates. The new Now Bar feature delivers quick updates and notifications on the cover screen. However, the cover display’s software still lags behind Motorola’s smooth implementation, limiting its usefulness.
Verdict
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is slimmer, more stylish, and packs the largest cover display in its segment. It’s great for everyday use, but heavy users may be disappointed with its average cameras, heating issues, and battery life that struggles to last a full day.
In short, Samsung’s latest clamshell foldable looks fantastic but still isn’t the perfect flip phone we’ve been waiting for.
