Apple has begun rolling out iOS 26.2, the second significant update to its latest mobile operating system, bringing a suite of refinements and new features to compatible iPhones. The update arrives months after the major iOS 26 release and focuses on improving user experience, expanding interface customisation, and adding functionality to core apps.

One of the headline changes in iOS 26.2 is enhanced Liquid Glass customisation. First introduced earlier in iOS 26’s radical design revamp, Liquid Glass adds a translucent, layered aesthetic to interface elements. In 26.2, users gain a slider control for the Lock Screen clock’s appearance, allowing them to fine-tune the transparency between clear and frosted effects — a response to user feedback seeking better legibility and personalisation.

The update also introduces several app-specific upgrades. In Apple Music, users can now download and view lyrics offline, making it easier to sing along without an internet connection. The Music app also emphasises favourite songs more prominently in playlists.

Another notable addition is the AirDrop verification code feature, which enables file sharing with people outside a user’s contacts list via a temporary code, enhancing flexibility and security.

Other enhancements across the system aim to boost usability and safety. Reminders gains an alarm feature with snooze support, while Podcasts now offers auto-generated chapters and clickable episode links. The built-in Games app has improved sorting options and controller support, and accessibility gets a new screen flash alert setting.

In select regions like the United States, new Enhanced Safety Alerts provide richer notifications for emergencies — including maps and official guidance — while AirPods users in Europe start receiving live translation capabilities that were delayed in earlier releases.

Apple’s iOS 26.2 rollout reflects its strategy of iterative improvement: smoothing rough edges of major updates like Liquid Glass while responding to feedback with practical customisation and utility boosts. The update is now available to iPhones that support iOS 26, with users encouraged to install it via Settings > General > Software Update.
