Apple has officially launched its most affordable laptop ever, called the MacBook Neo. Starting at Rs 69,900 in India, it is now the cheapest MacBook in the company’s lineup. Until now, the MacBook Air was Apple’s entry-level laptop, with prices starting much higher.
The MacBook Neo is aimed at students and budget buyers. Apple wants to compete more strongly with low-cost Windows laptops and Chromebooks that are popular in schools and homes.
The new laptop comes in bright colours like Indigo, Citrus and Blush, along with the classic Silver finish. It has a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408×1506 pixels and up to 500 nits brightness. However, it does not support the high refresh rate feature available on premium models.
In a big change, the MacBook Neo runs on the A18 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro. It features a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. The laptop comes with 8GB RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB.
The battery is 36.5Wh and is claimed to offer up to 16 hours of video streaming. Apple includes a 20W charger in the box.
To keep the price low, Apple has removed some premium features. The keyboard is not backlit, and there are only two USB-C ports. There is no MagSafe charging port. It also has an HD camera and two speakers. Touch ID is available only in the higher 512GB model.
The MacBook Neo is available for pre-order now and will go on sale in India from March 11, 2026.
