More than 20 years after the original Freaky Friday film hit theaters, Lindsay Lohan brought pure nostalgia to the red carpet at the London premiere of Disney’s sequel Freakier Friday.
Dressed in a custom lavender metal mesh gown by Ludovic de Saint Sernin, Lohan paid tribute to one of her most memorable on-screen outfits. The shimmering look, adorned with Swarovski crystals, was a modern reimagining of the lilac, lace-trimmed two-piece her character Anna wore during the final scene of the 2003 film. The tribute didn’t stop there — Lohan accessorized with a glittering guitar-shaped purse by Judith Leiber, echoing Anna’s pop-punk persona from her band “Pink Slip.”
The sequel reunites Lohan with Jamie Lee Curtis, reprising their roles as the body-swapping mother-daughter duo. Their chemistry lit up the lilac-and-green carpet — colors chosen to reflect the original movie’s poster art — at a premiere brimming with millennial nostalgia.
Designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin shared his excitement online, saying the moment was a dream come true. “I’ve been manifesting this for nearly 20 years,” he wrote, thanking stylist Andrew Mukamal, best known for Margot Robbie’s viral Barbie press tour looks.
This isn’t Lohan’s first fashion callback to Freaky Friday. Just last month, she was seen in a leather miniskirt and a graphic tee featuring the name “Pink Slip,” her fictional band from the movie. During the press tour, she even wore faux merchandise from the band, embracing a wave of method dressing that’s become increasingly popular in Hollywood promotions.
As studios continue to tap into nostalgia — from the Beetlejuice reboot to Jurassic World Rebirth — Freaky Friday proves its lasting cultural impact. Curtis called the film “beloved all over the world,” and Lohan added, “The fans love it — that’s what makes you want to do it again.”
And for Sernin, seeing his design on the red carpet was more than just fashion — it was a full-circle dream realized.
