A Last Tribute to the Fashion Legend
Giorgio Armani’s final Emporio Armani collection made a heartfelt debut at Milan Fashion Week on Thursday, staged in the very theatre where over 15,000 admirers recently paid their last respects to the legendary designer. The collection, titled Ritorni (Returns), captured Armani’s signature elegance, blending relaxed tailoring with both masculine and feminine elements, while infusing a subtle traveller’s touch through kimono-style fastenings, raffia crochet caps, flat sandals, and soft leather booties.
The venue itself echoed Armani’s meticulous style, featuring architectural details reflecting his precise tailoring and soft suspended fabrics that celebrated his mastery of fluidity. The womenswear line, designed for Spring-Summer 2026, sought to evoke the fleeting moments just after a holiday—before the magic of leisure fades into daily life.
During the show, models were met with applause on their final walk, and the audience responded with heartfelt appreciation. Traditionally, Giorgio Armani would appear at the end of his shows to take a bow. This time, the doorway remained empty but illuminated, symbolizing the designer’s enduring presence and leaving the crowd in reflective admiration.
Armani, a global fashion icon, passed away on 4 September 2025 at the age of 91. Before his death, he confirmed the creative baton would pass to his niece Silvana Armani for womenswear and long-time collaborator Leo Dell’Orco for menswear, ensuring that the brand’s legacy continues.
Founded in 1975, the Armani fashion house is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the signature Giorgio Armani line this year. As part of the tribute, a final Giorgio Armani show is scheduled at the Brera Art Gallery on Sunday, accompanied by an exhibition of over 120 garments personally selected by Armani, running through 11 January 2026.
The collection reflects not only Armani’s unparalleled vision in fashion but also his deep understanding of modern elegance and comfort. The show offered a poignant reminder of his influence, leaving the fashion world to honour a designer whose creativity and style have shaped global fashion for decades. Armani’s final collection and commemorative exhibition ensure his timeless artistry will continue to inspire generations to come.
