Fashion Startup Blip Shuts Down Within a Year

Blip exits quick fashion space
Blip, a startup that promised quick fashion delivery, has shut down less than a year after its launch. Despite being in a growing market and having investor attention, Blip couldn’t continue due to money issues and delays in their market plan.

The company’s co-founder, Ansh Agarwal, shared the news through a heartfelt post on LinkedIn. He said that running the business with limited funds and struggling to bring their go-to-market (GTM) strategy to life made it hard to stay in the game.

Blip was launched with a new idea: to deliver trendy clothes quickly through a local and vertically managed model. This meant that instead of copying others, they built their own system from scratch. While this approach was unique, it also took more time and effort to explain and implement. It slowed their growth and made them miss out on the fast-moving fashion wave.

“Being different meant we had to try many new things that slowed us down,” Agarwal said. He also mentioned that the lack of enough working capital made it tough to compete with rivals who had deeper pockets.

Other startups like Slikk and Newme, as well as big players like Myntra and Nykaa, are racing to capture the quick fashion market. Slikk recently raised $10 million, showing that investor interest is high in this space. These companies aim to deliver clothes within hours, targeting Gen Z and millennials who prefer fast and trendy fashion.

Blip tried to join this race but couldn’t keep up due to money and execution challenges. Still, Agarwal said he was proud of what the team achieved and especially praised his co-founder Sarvesh Kedia for his hard work and support.

Although Blip is shutting down, its founders still believe in the idea of quick and vertical fashion delivery. Their journey shows how tough it is to lead innovation in a fast-changing and money-heavy market like fashion quick-commerce.
