The EIMG Concours d’Elegance 2026 brought vintage car enthusiasts to Kolkata when The Lake Club held the event on Sunday. The prestigious event showcased rare and exotic vehicles which were perfectly restored to their original heritage appearance creating a joyful celebration atmosphere in The City of Joy.
The annual event which has reached its fifth edition now demonstrates how Kolkata has become a major destination for vintage car enthusiasts who travel worldwide. The Eastern India Motoring Group (EIMG) organized the event with support from The Lake Club and ACE Commercial. The Lake Club green lawns created an ideal display area which featured Rabindra Sarobar and clear skies as its background.
Visitors at the event saw a collection of seventy vintage cars together with ten classic two-wheelers. The vehicle showcased the owner’s passion through its historical value and expert craftsmanship. EIMG Founder and President Shrivardhan Kanoria together with Secretary Subhajit Kumar established The Concours to develop an international vintage car exhibition for Kolkata.
The EIMG Core Committee members joined Mr. Kanoria who served as Chief Judge for the event. The judges assessed vehicles based on their original state and the quality of their restoration work and their current condition and their unique features and their historical value and the emotional connection between driver and vehicle.
The event showcased three main attractions which included the historic Dodge 2928 vehicle used by Lord Mountbatten, the 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe which legendary singer Hemanta Mukhopadhyay had driven, and the rare 1938 German Adler. The event drew a large audience because members and guests and visitors came to see the special exhibition. The event established itself as Kolkata’s leading vintage automobile show of the year. The show concluded with the 1934 Rolls-Royce which Krish Ajmera owned winning the Best of the Show award. The second place went to a 1948 Bentley MK VI owned by Azam Momen, while the third spot was claimed by a 1958 Mercedes-Benz 180 A owned by Prithvi Nath Tagore.
