TCI Opens New Cold Chain Warehouse in Gurugram

Large warehouse interior with docked truck, ideal for logistics and warehousing.

Transport Corporation of India Ltd. (TCI) has expanded its cold chain operations by opening a large temperature-controlled warehouse in Gurugram, Haryana. The new facility covers 1.5 lakh square feet and is located at Taj Nagar, strengthening TCI’s logistics presence in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The warehouse will be operated by TCI Cold Chain Solutions Ltd., a joint venture between TCI and Japan-based Mitsui & Co. The facility has been designed to serve a wide range of industries, including quick commerce, quick service restaurants, pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, dairy, meat and poultry, beauty products, life sciences, and specialty chemicals.

One of the key advantages of the new warehouse is its strategic location. It lies between the KMP Expressway and the Dwarka Expressway, allowing smooth movement of goods. Since the site is outside heavy vehicle no-entry zones, trucks can access the facility round the clock. This 24×7 access is expected to improve delivery speed and supply chain efficiency for customers.

The warehouse offers multi-temperature storage options, including frozen, chilled, and air-conditioned zones. It supports different handling models such as box-in/box-out, unit-in/unit-out, and pallet-in/pallet-out. Customers can use the facility on a flexible, pay-as-you-use basis, making it suitable for both large and growing businesses.

Commenting on the expansion, B. Sumit Kumar, CEO of TCI Cold Chain Solutions Ltd., said the new facility reflects the rising demand for reliable and scalable cold chain infrastructure in the NCR. He added that strong road connectivity and flexible operations will help support fast-moving and regulated supply chains in the region.

The facility is equipped with modern safety and sustainability features. It includes a 500-kilowatt rooftop solar power system to reduce energy use. Energy-efficient refrigeration systems help maintain temperature stability. Advanced SCADA-based monitoring allows real-time tracking of operations, while a VESDA panel provides early smoke detection. The warehouse is also secured with more than 600 CCTV cameras and access-controlled entry points. Dedicated truck parking areas support smooth inbound and outbound movement.

TCI currently manages more than 16 million square feet of warehousing space across India. With over 60 years of experience in logistics and supply chain services, the company generates annual revenues of more than Rs. 7,000 crore. The new Gurugram facility further strengthens TCI’s position in temperature-controlled logistics.
