Tata Motors Launches CSR Arm to Boost Social Impact

Tata Motors Unveils 17 New Diesel and Electric Trucks

Tata Motors has set up a new non-profit company called Tata Motors Foundation to handle its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The foundation was officially registered on July 17, 2025, under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, which allows companies to work for charitable purposes without making a profit.

The new foundation has an authorized share capital of ₹50 lakh, divided into 5 lakh shares of ₹10 each. Its initial paid-up capital is ₹10 lakh, which means 1 lakh shares have been issued so far.

Several Tata Group companies are involved in this foundation:

  • Tata Motors Limited – 45% stake
  • Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd – 40% stake
  • Tata Technologies Ltd – 10% stake
  • Tata Motors Digital.AI Labs Ltd – 2% stake
  • Tata Motors Global Services Ltd – 2% stake
  • Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd – 1% stake

The main goal of Tata Motors Foundation is to plan and carry out CSR projects that help society. These could include programs in education, health, environment, and community development. Since it is a Section 8 company, it doesn’t operate to earn profits, and it gets certain benefits and exemptions from normal company regulations.

Tata Motors shared this development with the stock exchanges (BSE and NSE) in line with SEBI’s disclosure rules. The official update was submitted by the Company Secretary, Maloy Kumar Gupta.

Importantly, Tata Motors made it clear that this move is not a related party transaction, meaning it doesn’t involve any unfair advantage to company insiders. The money invested in the foundation is also outside the scope of such rules.

By setting up this foundation, Tata Motors is showing its strong commitment to structured and impactful CSR work. The new organization will make it easier for the company to contribute to social causes in a well-organized and effective way.
