Mahindra XUV700 Crosses 3 Lakh Sales in Just 4 Years

Mahindra & Mahindra’s flagship SUV, the XUV700, has completed four successful years in the market. Launched on August 14, 2021, this feature-packed and safety-focused SUV has now sold 304,725 units till the end of July 2025. Out of these, 291,712 units were sold in India and 13,013 units were exported.

Strong Sales and Production Growth

The XUV700 continues to be a strong performer for Mahindra. In FY2025, it ranked as the company’s fifth best-selling SUV, with 29,046 units sold between April and July 2025, a 24% year-on-year increase. The Scorpio twins, Thar, Bolero, and the 3XO were the top four models.

Mahindra has also scaled up production at its Chakan, Pune plant to meet demand. Over four years, 307,283 units have been manufactured, leaving only 2,558 units in stock with dealers. Annual production grew from 67,654 units in FY2023 to 95,734 units in FY2025.

Diesel Leads the Way

The XUV700 comes in both 5- and 7-seater options, with petrol and diesel engines. Buyers clearly prefer diesel, which makes up around 75% of total sales. Mahindra offers a wide choice of variants, from the base petrol model at ₹17.42 lakh to the fully loaded diesel AWD version at ₹32.49 lakh.

With 38 variants, two transmission options (manual and automatic), and even an all-wheel-drive version, the XUV700 competes with popular SUVs like the Tata Harrier, Safari, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, and Alcazar. It even challenges Toyota’s Innova Crysta and HyCross.

Awards and Milestones

The XUV700 won Autocar India’s Car of the Year 2022, thanks to its modern cabin, advanced driver assistance features, and powerful engines. It has also won awards for value and performance.

Sales milestones came quickly – 50,000 units in 12 months, 100,000 in 22 months, and 250,000 in just three years. The 300,000th unit rolled out in July 2025, and domestic sales are set to cross that mark by September.

With its strong mix of performance, safety, and value, the XUV700 continues to be one of India’s most loved SUVs.
