Honor is preparing to speed up its flagship smartphone launch plans in China. New leaks suggest that the Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design could launch in early 2026, possibly before the Chinese Spring Festival. If this happens, Honor may reach the market ahead of rivals Vivo and Oppo in the ultra-premium smartphone segment.
After Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, attention has shifted to other brands planning “super-sized” flagship phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. According to a leak shared by tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Honor is fast-tracking the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design. The phone could debut before February 17, 2026, which marks the Spring Festival in China.
Launch race heats up
The early launch could give Honor a strong advantage. Competing models like the Vivo X300 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 Ultra are expected to arrive later, after the Spring Festival. Both these phones are tipped to feature 2K flat displays and a powerful new 200-megapixel main camera sensor. However, their exact launch dates are still unclear, with both brands reportedly targeting the first quarter of 2026.
Honor’s move shows its intent to lead the next wave of ultra-flagship smartphones rather than follow competitors.
What the Magic 8 series offers
Honor has already launched the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro in China in October. Both phones run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and use MagicOS 10. The Magic 8 features a 6.58-inch display and a 7,000mAh battery, while the Magic 8 Pro comes with a larger 6.71-inch screen and a 7,200mAh battery.
The Magic 8 Pro stands out with its advanced camera setup. It includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with 3.7x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. The phone also has a 50-megapixel front camera and a 3D depth sensor for better selfies and facial recognition.
The standard Magic 8 also offers a triple rear camera system, though with a smaller telephoto sensor.
If the leaks are accurate, the Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design could be one of the first ultra-flagship phones of 2026, setting the tone for the premium smartphone market early in the year.
