TMC Turns to Influencers as 2026 Bengal Campaign Kicks Off

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is preparing for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections with an early and aggressive campaign strategy. The party plans to officially launch its election drive on January 1, 2026, which also marks the foundation day of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).

The announcement was made by TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee during a virtual meeting with around 1,500 party leaders. These included Members of Parliament, MLAs, mayors, councillors, panchayat leaders, and district office-bearers from across the state.

According to party sources, Abhishek Banerjee will begin his statewide campaign tour on January 2, starting from South 24 Parganas. He is expected to travel across West Bengal to connect with workers and voters directly.

A key feature of the campaign is the use of influencers to reach a wider audience. The party has identified around 1,800 influencers from different parts of the state. Senior leaders, including ministers and MPs, will personally meet about 200 influencers. The remaining 1,600 will be contacted by MLAs and district presidents. In total, 38 teams have been formed for this outreach, which is expected to be completed within 15 to 30 days.

Each influencer will receive a special kit. This kit will include Unnayaner Panchali, a booklet highlighting the government’s development work, a document titled Banglar Gaurabojjwal 15 Bochor showcasing 15 years of achievements, an uttariya (ceremonial stole), a personal letter from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, a memento, and a detailed 15-year report card of the TMC government.

The development narrative will be shared in two phases through programmes called Banglar Samarthoner Sanjog and Banglar Samarthoner Songlap. Under the first programme, teams of five to ten leaders at the block and local level will interact with people across the state, starting January 1.

Abhishek Banerjee also announced that district coordinators will soon be appointed to act as the party’s “eyes and ears” on the ground. He stressed the importance of polite behaviour while interacting with citizens, saying that party workers should reflect Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s values and struggles.

The TMC believes that starting the year with a strong outreach campaign and a detailed report card will help it strengthen its connection with voters ahead of the 2026 elections.
