Google Brings Nano Banana AI Editing to Lens and AI Mode

Google is expanding its Nano Banana AI image editing model to Google Lens and AI Mode, starting with users in India and the US. The feature will first be available in English (US), with plans to add more countries and languages soon.

AI-Powered Editing Comes to Search and Lens

The Nano Banana AI model, launched in August 2025, quickly became one of Google’s most popular tools. It has been used over 500 million times worldwide and inspired several viral social media trends. The model allows users to edit photos with AI by simply describing what they want to change using text prompts.

Earlier, Google added this AI model to NotebookLM, giving users six creative styles for Video Overviews — Anime, Heritage, Papercraft, Retro Print, Watercolour, and Whiteboard. Now, Google is taking the next step by integrating Nano Banana into Search through Lens and AI Mode, making it easier for users to access its editing features directly.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Google confirmed the expansion. This means users can now edit images they capture using Lens or AI Mode — just like how they can edit photos in Gemini by uploading an image and writing an instruction prompt. The new feature will likely allow similar editing options right inside the Lens or AI interface.

New Look for NotebookLM

The expansion comes shortly after Google updated NotebookLM, which now has a new studio design for its mobile app. The redesign brings several useful additions, such as the ability to create multiple audio overviews per notebook in different languages, lengths, and styles.

Google’s focus on integrating Nano Banana across its platforms shows its commitment to making AI-driven creativity tools easily accessible to everyone. With Lens and AI Mode soon supporting this feature, users will be able to perform quick and advanced image edits directly from their smartphones, without needing extra software.

The rollout is currently limited, but the global expansion of Nano Banana AI is expected soon.
