WhatsApp has announced several new features to make calling, chatting, and sharing media easier for users. These updates arrive just before the holiday season, offering fresh ways to stay connected, share memories, and enjoy creative tools on the app.
The biggest addition is a feature called Missed Call Messages. This works like a modern version of voicemail. If you call someone and they do not pick up, you can instantly record a voice note or a short video note depending on the type of call you made. With just one tap, you can send the message so the other person knows why you called. WhatsApp says this feature will make traditional voicemails unnecessary.
WhatsApp is also improving how users react during voice chats. New reactions like “cheers!” can now be used without disturbing the speaker. In video calls, the app will automatically highlight and prioritise the person who is speaking, making group calls clearer and more organised.
Another major update is in Meta AI image creation. WhatsApp now supports upgraded AI models, including Flux and Midjourney. These models can generate better pictures, especially useful during the holiday season when users often create greeting images. The app claims the new models offer much sharper and more creative results.
A standout feature is image animation. Using Meta AI, users can take any photo and turn it into a short animated video. All they need to do is enter prompts or messages, and the AI will bring the image to life. This opens up fun ways to make unique videos for friends and family.
On WhatsApp Web and desktop, a new media tab has been introduced. This makes it easier to find documents, links, and images shared across different chats. Link previews have also been redesigned to look cleaner and more informative.
Lastly, WhatsApp Status updates are becoming more interactive. Users can now add music lyrics, interactive stickers, and even questions that viewers can answer. Channels on WhatsApp will also support questions, allowing admins to engage better with their audience and receive quick responses.
These updates aim to make WhatsApp more creative, interactive, and user-friendly, giving people more ways to communicate and express themselves.
