Sundar Pichai Says No Company Is Safe From an AI Market Crash

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has spoken publicly about the growing concerns around an “AI bubble” — a situation where too much money is being poured into artificial intelligence, raising fears of a future crash. In a recent interview with the BBC, Pichai said that if the AI bubble bursts, no company, not even Google, will be completely safe. This is one of the clearest warnings from Google about the risks linked to rapid investments in AI.

Many experts have compared the current excitement around AI to the dotcom boom of the late 1990s, which eventually collapsed. Investors today are pouring huge amounts of money into AI startups, tools and technology. Some analysts, including JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, have hinted that the market is overheating and that some investments may eventually fail. Pichai echoed these concerns, saying there are “elements of irrationality” in some of the investments happening right now.

However, Pichai also explained that even if a crash happens, AI as a technology will continue to have a major impact on the world, just like the internet did after the dotcom bubble. He noted that Google might be better prepared to handle the situation because the company controls everything from its infrastructure to the products users see — a system known as operating a “full stack.” Still, he made it clear that Google would not be entirely immune.

Along with the financial risks, Pichai also addressed another growing issue: AI hallucinations. These occur when AI systems create false information and present it as fact. He warned users not to trust every answer they get from chatbots or AI tools. Instead, he advised people to double-check important information using other reliable sources.

Pichai said that as AI becomes more common in everyday life, people must learn how to use these tools properly. According to him, the key is to understand what AI can do well and when human judgment is still necessary. He stressed that users should not blindly rely on AI but use it carefully and responsibly.

Overall, Pichai’s message was clear: AI is powerful and evolving fast, but both companies and users need to stay alert, prepared and informed.
