Perplexity Adds Stock Price Alerts as Queries Hit 300M

Perplexity to Share Comet Browser Revenue With Publishers

Perplexity has rolled out a new stock price alert feature for Indian users, expanding its finance-focused tools while marking a major milestone of 300 million weekly queries on its platform. The update, announced on Wednesday, supports both the NSE and BSE exchanges, allowing investors to monitor stock movements more efficiently.

Stock Price Alerts for Indian Markets

The new feature, part of Perplexity Finance, enables users to set custom alerts based on either a target price (in rupees) or a percentage movement. Once a stock crosses the specified threshold, the AI-powered system not only triggers a notification but also explains the reasons behind the movement, drawing from Perplexity’s search capabilities.

Currently, the feature is exclusive to Pro and Max subscribers, but the company has confirmed that it will extend to free-tier users in the near future.

How It Works

Users can access the tool on desktop and mobile web platforms, with app support expected later. After searching for a stock, a Price Alert icon appears on the right side of the results page. Clicking it opens a setup interface where users can configure the alert.

Perplexity also allows users to add extra instructions, such as analyzing social media sentiment or news reports to better contextualize market reactions. Active alerts are visible across the platform, with real-time monitoring available via the Tasks page.

Growing Platform Reach

Jeff Grimes, Head of Live Events at Perplexity, highlighted the feature on X (formerly Twitter), calling it a powerful new tool for Indian investors. The announcement follows Perplexity’s rapid growth: CEO Aravind Srinivas revealed that weekly user queries have soared to 300 million, up from 100 million just nine months ago — a threefold increase.

This surge underscores the platform’s rising relevance as an AI-powered search and productivity tool, with finance emerging as one of its most promising verticals.

With stock alerts tailored for Indian markets and future app integration planned, Perplexity is positioning itself as a smarter alternative for investors seeking not just data, but context-driven insights.
