AI-Powered Restyle Feature Expands
Instagram is reportedly testing a new feature called Restyle Text, which allows users to create custom fonts using AI. The feature is currently being tested with a small group of users and is available in both Instagram Stories and the Edits app. It builds on the existing Restyle tool, powered by Meta’s AI models, which lets users edit images or videos through text prompts — adding, removing, or changing elements instantly.
The new Restyle Text feature will let users type natural language prompts to generate unique font styles. Users can also choose from preset styles like Chrome and Balloon, or create their own fun designs — for example, text with shiny effects or letters wearing party hats.
How It Works
To use Restyle Text in Instagram Stories, users can upload an image and tap on the paintbrush icon on the top-right corner. From there, the Restyle menu appears with several options like “Add,” “Remove,” and “Change,” along with preset styles. Users can scroll horizontally to explore all available effects.
This tool works similarly to Google’s Nano Banana model and provides inline editing, making it easy for users to modify visuals directly. Instagram aims to make content creation more playful and personalized through AI-powered tools, giving users full control over how their Stories or videos appear.
Available in Edits App Too
Apart from Instagram, the Edits app also supports this feature. It allows users to apply the same AI-generated text styles and visual effects to short video clips, which can later be uploaded to Instagram or other platforms.
Recently, Instagram also launched several Diwali-themed filters and Meta AI-powered translation features for Reels in Hindi. The addition of Restyle Text shows Meta’s growing focus on AI creativity tools, helping users design and express themselves in new, interactive ways.
