PM Modi Urges Swadeshi Push, Calls GST Reform a Landmark

PM Modi to Boost Bihar with Rs 7,616 Crore Infra Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing NDA MPs in New Delhi on Monday, emphasized the importance of building a self-reliant India through the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. He described the recently announced GST reforms as a landmark step that will significantly benefit Indians and strengthen the country’s economic foundation.

Reforms Need Collective Effort

Speaking at a BJP workshop, Modi compared India’s growth journey to a ship sailing against strong winds, saying the nation requires the collective push of its leaders to maintain momentum. He urged MPs to actively engage with citizens, explain the benefits of reforms, and hold at least 25 vyapar sammelans (trade conferences) per constituency to spread awareness.

Swadeshi Movement at the Core

A key highlight of Modi’s address was the call to strengthen the Swadeshi movement. He appealed to MPs to promote Indian-made products during the upcoming Navratri and Diwali seasons. “Garv se bolo hum swadeshi hai,” he said, encouraging people to choose local goods over imported ones. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju echoed this sentiment, stating that promoting Swadeshi products is crucial to achieving the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

India’s Growth Story

Recounting the country’s economic journey since 2014, Modi underlined that India has emerged as the world’s fastest-growing major economy, with GDP growth at 7.8 percent. He stressed that while growth brings new challenges, India must remain self-reliant and resilient amid global uncertainties.

Action on Flood Situation

In a gesture of sensitivity, Modi canceled the ceremonial dinner planned ahead of the vice-presidential elections due to floods in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Instead, he will visit the affected states immediately after casting his vote on September 9. His itinerary includes a review meeting in Kangra, an aerial survey of Punjab’s flood-hit regions, and interactions with local officials, disaster relief teams, and affected citizens.

Through his address, Modi reinforced the message that India’s progress lies in self-reliance, reform-driven growth, and collective responsibility. His dual focus on economic reforms and the Swadeshi spirit underlines a vision of resilience and pride in homegrown strength.
