Nation Mourns the Death of Tribal Rights Icon

Shibu Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), passed away at the age of 81. He breathed his last at Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after suffering from kidney issues and a stroke. He had been on life support for the past month.

Political leaders from across India expressed their sorrow over his death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the hospital to pay his respects and met with Soren’s family. He shared his condolences on social media and said his thoughts were with Shibu Soren’s son, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, and their family.

Hemant Soren posted an emotional message, calling his father “Guru Dishom” and saying that he felt completely empty after his passing.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised Shibu Soren as a strong leader who worked tirelessly for the rights of tribal communities and the weaker sections of society. He said Soren always stayed close to the people and left a lasting impact.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed his grief, highlighting Soren’s lifelong fight for a separate Jharkhand state and tribal rights. He spoke to Hemant Soren and offered support during this difficult time.

BRS leader KT Rama Rao recalled Soren’s support during the Telangana movement. He said Soren understood the struggles of regional identity and justice, and his guidance was valuable during tough times.

Other leaders like Giriraj Singh, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, and Abhishek Banerjee also paid heartfelt tributes. They all remembered him as a voice for the tribal community and a fighter for social justice.

Shibu Soren served as a Lok Sabha MP eight times and was a Rajya Sabha member for two terms. His death marks the end of an era in Jharkhand politics and leaves behind a legacy of courage, leadership, and dedication to the people.
