Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slams Insult to PM Modi’s Late Mother

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent incident in Bihar where a man abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother during a political event. Speaking in the national capital, Gupta questioned whether politics in India has fallen so low that even mothers are disrespected for political gains.

She said, “Has politics stooped so low that we will abuse someone’s late mother for our interest? Should we not get angry? Should we not give a reply? This is the time to be a warrior for the country.” Gupta urged citizens to raise their voices against such behaviour and to protect India’s culture and values.

The incident took place last month in Darbhanga, Bihar, during the Vote Adhikar Yatra, a political campaign led by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav. A man identified as Mohammad Rizvi, also known as Raza, was seen abusing Modi’s late mother on stage. The video quickly went viral, leading to Rizvi’s arrest.

Gupta reminded people that not all battles are fought at borders. “Some are fought within society against evils. We must speak up when our culture is being insulted and when dignity is being attacked,” she said.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi also addressed the issue. He spoke about the struggles of ordinary mothers, who through hardships provide education and values to their children. Modi said that a mother’s place is considered higher than gods and goddesses.

Taking a direct swipe at Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, the Prime Minister described them as “young princes born into royal families” who cannot understand the sacrifices of poor mothers. He accused them of seeing political power as a family inheritance and using abusive language against hardworking people.

The remarks by both Gupta and Modi highlight how deeply the issue has struck a chord. Both leaders stressed that respect for mothers and for Indian values should never be compromised, regardless of political differences.
