Xiaomi 17 Ultra Set to Launch Early With Major Camera Upgrades

The upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra is making headlines as new leaks suggest that the company might launch the phone earlier than expected. Instead of arriving in early 2026, the flagship smartphone is now tipped to debut in China by the end of this month. This makes it the fourth and most premium phone in the latest Xiaomi 17 series.

According to a well-known Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu, the phone has already been spotted on a Chinese regulator’s website with the model number M2551B1. This hints that all approvals are nearly complete and the launch is close. Along with the phone, the Xiaomi Band 10 Pro has also reportedly received certification, indicating that the brand may introduce multiple products together.

One of the biggest highlights of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is its camera system. Leaks suggest that the phone will feature an upgraded Leica-tuned rear camera setup. A new “Leica coating” is said to be added to the lenses. This special coating may help reduce chromatic aberration, a camera issue where colours fail to align properly, causing strange coloured edges around subjects. The coating is also expected to decrease unwanted reflections and deliver clearer and more accurate photos.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is rumoured to include a triple rear camera setup. This is different from last year’s Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which came with four cameras. The new model may have a 50-megapixel OVX10500U primary camera, a powerful 200-megapixel telephoto camera with the S5KHPE sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera using either an OV50M or S5KJN5 sensor. For selfies, the phone could sport a 50-megapixel OV50M front camera.

Performance is expected to be strong, with the phone likely powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset based on 3nm technology. This is the same chip used across the Xiaomi 17 series, and it promises faster speed, better efficiency, and smoother multitasking.

Although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed any details, the number of leaks strongly suggests that the launch is near. With improved camera features, powerful hardware, and an early release, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is shaping up to be one of the most exciting flagship phones of the season.
