Samsung recently launched its Galaxy Z Fold 7 in India during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event on July 9. The flagship foldable phone features an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with QXGA+ resolution (1,968 x 2,184 pixels), a 120Hz refresh rate, 368ppi pixel density, and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. It also has a 6.5-inch cover display with full-HD+ resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.
Display Durability Tested
Samsung Display revealed that the foldable AMOLED screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 successfully passed a rigorous durability test conducted by Bureau Veritas, a French certification and testing company. The test showed that the display can withstand up to 5 lakh folds, which is 2.5 times more than Samsung’s previous standard of 2 lakh folds. This means the phone can last up to 10 years for an average user folding it 100 times a day or around 6 years for heavy users folding it 200 times daily.
The test was carried out over 13 days at 25 degrees Celsius, confirming the display’s improved strength and reliability.
Advanced Materials and Design
Samsung attributes this durability to its new shock-resistant structure inspired by bulletproof glass. The company made the Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) 50% thicker and added a high-elasticity adhesive between screen layers, which improves recovery performance four times compared to earlier materials. Additionally, a new flattening structure distributes impact evenly across the screen.
A titanium plate has also been introduced beneath the foldable screen, offering both strength and lightness without increasing thickness.
Strong and Stylish
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is designed not only for style but also for long-term use. Samsung claims its innovations ensure both the inner and cover displays deliver high brightness, vivid colors, and smooth performance while being capable of enduring heavy folding cycles.
This durability milestone, combined with cutting-edge design and premium materials, sets the Galaxy Z Fold 7 apart as one of the most robust foldable phones available today. It highlights Samsung’s focus on creating long-lasting devices while enhancing user experience.
