Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Pad 2, starting at Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB RAM model. This new version comes three years after the original Redmi Pad and brings small but useful upgrades, making it a solid budget tablet option.
The Redmi Pad 2 keeps a familiar design with flat sides, a slim 7.63mm body, and a new dual-tone finish. The camera module is now a shiny capsule shape, and the bold “Redmi” logo sits on a colour-matched strip at the back. It feels sturdy but is a bit heavy at over 500g, making one-handed use less comfortable.
One welcome change is the addition of a hybrid SIM tray, allowing up to 2TB microSD storage and a cellular connection — something the first Redmi Pad lacked. Xiaomi has also kept the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is handy for music and FM radio.
The tablet supports the Xiaomi Focus Pen (sold separately), which connects via Bluetooth and offers precise pressure sensitivity. It comes with two buttons — one for quick notes in the Mi Canvas app and another for taking screenshots or switching colours. This makes it great for students, note-takers, and creative users. A protective cover is also available, which doubles as a stand and puts the tablet to sleep when closed.
The display is now an 11-inch IPS LCD panel with a sharp 2,560 x 1,600 resolution and 60–90Hz refresh rate. It’s a nice step up from the previous 10.57-inch screen, giving clearer visuals for reading, videos, and drawing.
Inside, the Redmi Pad 2 gets a new processor and more RAM options, but the performance is tuned for everyday tasks rather than heavy gaming. The bigger battery means longer use, but charging is still slow, which might frustrate some users.
Overall, the Redmi Pad 2 may not be a major leap in specs, but the added cellular support, stylus compatibility, sharper display, and sturdy design make it one of the best choices for a budget-friendly tablet in 2025. It’s a practical device for work, study, and entertainment without breaking the bank.
