Day 1 of Lakmē Fashion Week x FDCI saw menswear take the spotlight, proving that men’s fashion is no longer in the background. The event began on March 19, 2026, at the Jio World Convention Centre, with several designers presenting strong and stylish collections.
Designers like Anamika Khanna, Vivek Karunakaran, and Kartik Kumra showcased their unique ideas for modern menswear. Their collections highlighted a mix of tradition and contemporary fashion.
The runway featured fluid silhouettes, sharp tailoring, and bold colours. Many outfits also included layered styling, giving a fresh and creative look to men’s clothing. The designs showed how menswear is evolving into a more expressive and versatile category.
One of the highlights was The Boy’s Club showcase, which brought together talented designers like Dhruv Vaish, Sahil Aneja, and Countrymade. Their collections focused on stylish yet wearable outfits for today’s men.
Siddharth opened the show for Vivek Karunakaran’s collection called “Thangam.” The designer reimagined traditional Kanjeevaram fabric, usually used for sarees, into modern menswear. This creative twist impressed the audience and added a unique touch to the show.
Kartik Research also made a strong impact with its debut showcase in India. The collection focused on Indian embroidery and cultural elements, blended with modern designs. It added depth and storytelling to the runway.
Meanwhile, Anamika Khanna’s AK|OK line presented colourful and statement pieces that reflected the style of the modern man. Designers David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore also showcased relaxed yet elegant outfits through their collaboration.
Overall, Day 1 clearly showed that menswear is now a major focus in fashion. The event will continue until March 22, featuring more top designers and exciting collections.
