Manika Vishwakarma Shines in Golden Costume at Miss Universe

Manika Vishwakarma, India’s representative at Miss Universe 2025, amazed everyone with her breathtaking National Costume titled “The Birth of Enlightenment.” She showcased this golden outfit during the National Costume round, paying tribute to India’s deep Buddhist heritage. The grand event is set to take place on November 21 at the Impact Challenger Hall in Thailand.

As Manika walked the stage in her shining attire, the audience witnessed a powerful moment of elegance and cultural pride. The host introduced her look as a tribute to the sacred moment when Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. Manika also performed symbolic hand gestures, which added to the spiritual and royal feel of her presentation.

Her golden costume was a spectacular blend of India’s traditional artistry and modern glamour. The outfit featured a dramatic floor-length gown with sculpted layers and intricate embroidery. These designs symbolised prosperity, divinity and spiritual power. She paired the gown with a stunning, high-rising headpiece that made her look even more majestic.

The entire costume was designed to represent Buddhism’s most significant symbols. Manika later explained the details on Instagram, describing how the costume was inspired by the sacred origins of Buddhism in India. She said the outfit reflected the moment when Prince Siddhartha became Buddha, spreading peace and wisdom across the world. The gold and saffron colours symbolised purity, knowledge and divine light.

The structure of the costume was influenced by ancient temple architecture. Its shape resembled the golden stupas of Sanchi and Bodh Gaya. The detailed gold patterns were inspired by the leaves of the Bodhi Tree, where Buddha discovered the path to enlightenment.

At the centre of the costume was the glowing Dharma Chakra, the Wheel of Truth. This symbol represents moral values, the cycle of life and the Eightfold Path. A long saffron train flowed behind Manika, reminding viewers of the robes worn by Buddhist monks. Her tall headdress, inspired by temple shikharas, ended with a lotus flower — a symbol of purity and spiritual growth.

Manika Vishwakarma will now compete with contestants from around the world as she represents India at the 74th Miss Universe pageant.
