Madhuri Dixit Shines in a Stunning Mustard-Black Sonepuri Saree

Madhuri Dixit once again impressed everyone with her traditional style. In her latest Instagram post, she wore a beautiful mustard and black Sonepuri silk saree that showed elegance, culture and quiet grace. Known for her classic saree looks, Madhuri added another memorable outfit to her fashion diary.

The saree featured a rich two-tone design with a striking mix of black and gold. The lower half of the saree was black with a soft shine, while the upper part had bold gold-and-black stripes. The pallu added a dramatic effect as it flowed over her shoulder in a bright red shade. It came decorated with detailed woven patterns and traditional borders.

The saree also displayed Sonepuri craftsmanship with ikat bandha designs, kangala motifs and small woven butis on the pleats. Diagonal stripes across the pleats added length and movement to the drape. Metallic gold borders along the edges gave the saree a polished finish, and a touch of gold near the hem created a refined look as it brushed the floor.

Madhuri paired the saree with a sleeveless black blouse that had a scoop neckline. Her jewellery elevated the ethnic look — she wore a statement gold choker, matching earrings, a gold ring and bangles. A small bindi added a traditional touch.

Her makeup was soft yet glamorous. She chose a smooth base, warm contour, winged eyeliner, neutral brown eyeshadow and long lashes. A matte rose-nude lipstick completed her glowing look. She tied her hair into a neat bun and decorated it with fresh jasmine flowers.

About Sonepuri Silk Sarees

Sonepuri, also known as Bomkai sarees, originated in Bomkai village in Odisha’s Ganjam district. They are now mainly woven in Sonepur, Bargarh and Balangir districts of Western Odisha. These sarees are famous for their fine silk, shine and intricate motifs.

The Bhulia weaving community creates these masterpieces using the Bandhakala or Ikat technique, where threads are tie-dyed before weaving. The entire handloom process is manual and can take weeks or months.

Authentic Sonepuri silk sarees usually start at around ₹10,000. More detailed and complex designs can cost between ₹18,000 and ₹28,000 or more.
