Tomorrow marks the launch of Toyota Urban Cruiser EV

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella EV

India is going to witness the launch of Toyota’s new eco-friendly SUV Urban Cruiser EV on January 20, 2026, as the company has finally decided to introduce the electric vehicle in the market. Along with the impending launch, Toyota has treated the audience with a short video that reveals the SUV’s shadow and some design elements. This, in fact, will be the next major move of Toyota in the Indian electric vehicle segment. A lot of potential customers are curious to learn what this electric vehicle will bring in terms of styling, features, safety, and range.

The Urban Cruiser EV is the product of collaboration between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, as both manufacturers will share the same base and many parts for these two cars. But still, the Urban Cruiser EV will exhibit its unique styling and identity by Toyota, which in turn, will make it look more luxurious.

Shapes And Speculation

Toyota in its teaser video has shown certain exterior features that are going to be a part of the new car. The new Urban Cruiser will be equipped with diamond-cut alloy wheels which are designed keeping in mind the aerodynamics of the vehicle, sleek LED headlamps, and single-strip LED DRL. The front looks quite modern and the design is inspired by Toyota’s higher-end models like the Camry. The SUV looks very commanding on the road due to its bold body lines, thick cladding, large wheel arches, and a connected LED taillight at the back.

The complete details regarding the inside of the vehicle are yet to be made public, however, there are great expectations. The Urban Cruiser EV is suggested to feature a dual-display setup comprising a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen. Other features that are likely to be included are wireless charging, air-conditioned front seats, electric driver’s seat, touch-friendly materials, and faux leather upholstery. A fixed glass ceiling will contribute to making the cabin feel more open and bright.

Coming to dimensions, the Urban Cruiser EV is likely to measure 4,285 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm providing ample passenger space.

One of the biggest advantages is safety. The SUV will reportedly come with a total of seven airbags, 360-degree view camera, Level 2 ADAS, ESC, TPMS, and ABS with EBD. Given that the e-Vitara has been awarded a 5-star BNCAP rating, the same level of safety performance is expected in this case also.

Power-wise, Toyota is likely to introduce two battery options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The bigger battery pack could provide a maximum driving range of 543 km. The motor outputs might be 144 hp and 174 hp, both intended for the front wheel drive.

To sum up, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is positioned as a stylish, safe, and long-ranged electric SUV that would meet the needs of the Indian market.
