JSW MG Motor India prepares to disrupt the premium SUV market in India with its Majestor diesel full-size SUV which will release in May 2026. The Majestor which will launch at a price exceeding ₹40 lakh targets the established market leadership of Toyota Fortuner which operates in the D-segment.
The large SUV category in India sells around 35,000–40,000 units annually. The segment maintains its high profitability which drives brand development despite experiencing modest growth at a 2.5 percent CAGR rate. The Fortuner and Legender together have crossed 3 lakh units in India, highlighting strong customer loyalty.
The Majestor will take over the Gloster role as MG’s main SUV which uses internal combustion engines.
According to company executives, segment buyers expect three specific product features: premium interior design, advanced 4×4 driving capabilities, and substantial vehicle size. MG believes current offerings do not fully meet all these expectations together.
The Majestor SUV uses the Gloster platform for its development, which makes it more of a major upgrade than an all-new SUV. The vehicle length exceeds 5,046 mm, which makes it larger than the Fortuner. The vehicle will include a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that delivers 213–216 hp with 478 Nm torque, which operates through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The system will provide both 2WD and 4WD driving modes.
The system includes multiple off-road driving modes, differential locks, Level-2 ADAS, dual 12.3-inch screens, ventilated and massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof, and connected car technology as its main features.
Pre-bookings have opened at ₹41,000, with prices to be announced in April 2026. MG plans to produce over 1,000 units monthly, which shows its belief in the Majestor ability to succeed in India’s growing premium SUV market.
