Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) has announced a recall of 39,506 units of its Grand Vitara SUV after discovering a problem in the vehicle’s fuel gauge system. The company said that some vehicles may not show the correct fuel level on the dashboard, which could confuse drivers about how much fuel is actually left in the tank. This issue could also stop the fuel warning light from turning on at the right time.
The recall covers Grand Vitara SUVs manufactured between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. Maruti Suzuki said it will directly contact all owners of the affected vehicles. Customers will be asked to visit any authorised Maruti Suzuki workshop, where trained technicians will inspect the vehicle and replace the faulty part if needed. The company has assured that this repair will be done free of cost.
Maruti Suzuki explained that the recall is a precautionary step. The company wants to make sure that all vehicles remain safe and reliable for customers. It has requested owners to respond quickly when they receive communication from the dealer so that the issue can be fixed without delay.
This recall is part of the voluntary recall system followed by the Indian automobile industry. Many car manufacturers regularly recall vehicles when they identify possible defects, even if the issue has not yet caused any major problem. These steps help ensure long-term safety and build customer trust.
Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer and is well known for its wide service network, high localisation, and dependable products. In recent years, the company has increased its focus on the SUV market, launching several new models to attract urban and family buyers.
The Grand Vitara is one of Maruti Suzuki’s most important SUVs. It has been co-developed with Toyota and is sold as a premium product in the midsize segment. The model offers hybrid engine options, an all-wheel-drive system, and a long list of features designed for comfort and safety. Because of its strong demand and role in the company’s premium strategy, Maruti Suzuki is taking extra care to maintain the quality of the Grand Vitara.
