Maruti Suzuki’s Big Export Milestone
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved a major success with its compact SUV, the Fronx. The company announced that Fronx has become the fastest Indian SUV to cross 1 lakh export units, achieving this in just 25 months since global exports began in June 2023. The car was first launched in the Indian market in April 2023 and is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant.
The Fronx is now sold in over 80 countries, with Japan playing a key role in its export numbers. Other major markets include nations in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.
Leading Export Performer
During the financial year 2024-25, the Fronx became India’s top exported passenger vehicle, with over 69,000 units shipped. It is among Maruti Suzuki’s top five export models, alongside Jimny, Baleno, Swift, and Dzire.
Maruti Suzuki has remained India’s top passenger vehicle exporter for four years in a row. In the first quarter of 2025-26, the company exported over 96,000 vehicles, which is 47% of India’s total passenger vehicle exports—its highest share ever.
In 2024-25, Maruti Suzuki exported over 3.3 lakh units, a 17.5% increase from the previous year. It currently exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries.
Supporting ‘Make in India’ Vision
Maruti Suzuki’s Managing Director and CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi, said the Fronx’s success shows India’s strength in building world-class vehicles for global markets. He added that the achievement reflects the company’s role in supporting the ‘Make in India’ campaign.
Countries like South Africa, Japan, and Saudi Arabia are among the top destinations for Maruti exports. The success of the Fronx highlights growing global trust in Indian-made vehicles, helping India build its reputation as an automobile manufacturing hub.
