Mahindra & Mahindra has achieved a major success in its electric vehicle journey. The company’s two Born Electric SUVs — the BE 6 and XEV 9e — have crossed 40,000 units in production and 36,000 units in sales between January and October 2025. Manufactured at the company’s Chakan plant, these zero-emission SUVs have become strong performers in India’s growing EV market.
In October alone, Mahindra produced 4,916 units of the BE 6 and XEV 9e, taking their total production to 40,001 units. The same month also saw record domestic sales of 4,842 units, the highest so far. Together, the two models contributed 9% to Mahindra’s record monthly SUV production of 56,367 units and 7% of its highest-ever SUV sales of 71,624 units — a 31% rise from last year.
Overall, the BE 6 and XEV 9e account for 7% of Mahindra’s total SUV sales this year, and 8% of its sales in the current financial year. Their steady performance shows how Mahindra’s electric push is strengthening its position in the passenger vehicle market.
The success of these two models has helped M&M expand its EV market share significantly. Including the XUV400, Mahindra’s total e-SUV sales reached 27,035 units in the first 10 months of 2025 — a massive 339% increase compared to the same period last year. This strong growth has lifted Mahindra’s share of India’s electric passenger vehicle market to 19%, up from just 8% a year ago.
The company is now preparing to launch its next big model, the XEV 9S, on November 27. Built on the same INGLO skateboard platform as the BE 6 and XEV 9e, this new seven-seater electric SUV is expected to offer a range of about 500 km. The launch of the XEV 9S will mark Mahindra’s entry into the three-row EV segment and strengthen its position against rivals Tata Motors and JSW MG Motor India.
