Hyundai Venue Crosses 700,000 Sales Ahead of Next-Gen Launch

Compact SUV Milestone

Hyundai Motor India’s first-ever compact SUV, the Venue, has achieved a major sales milestone, crossing 700,000 units in the domestic market since its launch in May 2019. The Venue, the company’s second best-selling SUV after the Creta, has also seen over 50,000 units exported, bringing its cumulative domestic and export sales to more than 750,000. The compact SUV’s rapid rise reflects its popularity in India’s highly competitive sub-segment, dominated by models like the Tata Punch, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kylaq.

Sales momentum for the Venue was remarkable in the early years, reaching 50,000 units in just six months, 100,000 in 15 months, and 300,000 in three years. The model achieved 500,000 sales in November 2023 and 600,000 in August 2024. FY2024 marked the SUV’s best performance, with 128,897 units sold, a 7% increase from FY2023. However, FY2025 saw a slight slowdown to 119,113 units, partly due to anticipation for the upcoming second-generation Venue.

Features, Variants, and Fuel Efficiency

The Venue is designed as a user-friendly urban SUV, offering practicality and efficiency. It comes in 27 variants, including 24 petrol and three diesel models, with three engine options: a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel. Transmission options include a five-speed manual, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic for petrol variants, and a six-speed manual for diesel. Fuel efficiency is a highlight: the 1.0 turbo-petrol DCT returns 18.15 km/l, the 1.2 petrol manual delivers 17.52 km/l, and the 1.5 diesel offers 24.2 km/l.

Autocar India notes that the Venue “may lack a bit of presence, but it’s a fine choice for urban buyers,” praising the turbo-petrol variant for smooth performance and the well-equipped higher trims. Pricing ranges from ₹9.48 lakh for the base 1.2 petrol to ₹16.3 lakh for the top-end diesel variant. The GST 2.0 rollout from September 22, 2025, is expected to further reduce prices, enhancing affordability.

Next-Gen Venue Launch

The second-generation Hyundai Venue is scheduled for launch on October 24, 2025, during the festive season. It will be the first model produced at Hyundai’s new Talegaon plant in Maharashtra, acquired from GM India in 2023. The next-gen Venue will feature a boxier, more premium design while retaining sub-four-metre length for tax benefits. Hyundai plans to continue offering petrol and diesel options, and a Venue EV is reportedly in the pipeline.

Hyundai is expected to enhance safety and features in the new model, including six airbags, ADAS suite, and parking sensors. With fierce competition in the compact SUV market, the upgraded Venue aims to rival models like the Kia Syros, Mahindra XUV3XO, and Tata Nexon, combining style, technology, and efficiency for urban buyers.

The Hyundai Venue’s success story demonstrates the brand’s strong foothold in India’s compact SUV segment, and the next-generation model is set to further strengthen its market position.
