Indian commercial vehicle giant Ashok Leyland has officially entered the Qatari market by forming a partnership with FAMCO Qatar, a company under the respected Al-Futtaim Group. This major announcement was made at a special event in Doha on November 19, 2025.
This is not the first time the Hinduja Group’s flagship company has worked with Al-Futtaim; they had a similar successful tie-up in Saudi Arabia with FAMCO KSA in 2024.
Ashok Leyland will bring its full range of vehicles to Qatari customers. This includes popular bus models like the Falcon and Oyster, known for passenger comfort and safety. The lineup also features the versatile Boss and Partner series of trucks, suitable for everyone from large fleet operators and logistics firms to small and medium-sized businesses and public transport.
A significant part of the launch is the introduction of the company’s electric buses. This move supports the region’s increasing interest in environment-friendly and sustainable transport solutions. Ashok Leyland promises that all its vehicles offer strong durability, good fuel efficiency, and a low total cost of ownership, which is very important for businesses.
Rajesh R, Head of International Operations at Ashok Leyland, stated that this expansion strengthens the company’s presence across the Middle East. Customers will benefit from FAMCO Qatar’s comprehensive network for sales, service, and aftersales support.
Ramez Hamdan, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Industrial Equipment, highlighted that this is an excellent time to enter the market as Qatar continues with major infrastructure projects. FAMCO Qatar is well-equipped to handle the distribution and maintenance.
Ashok Leyland has a history of over 75 years in manufacturing quality buses and trucks globally. FAMCO Qatar is a leading provider of commercial and industrial solutions in the country.
