European luxury vehicles are set to become more reasonably priced for Indian consumers because India finalized a significant free trade agreement with the European Union. The agreement will gradually decrease the current high import tariffs which apply to multiple well-known European automotive brands.
European vehicles that enter India currently face prohibitive tariffs which reach extremely high levels. The import duties which reach 110 percent create an extreme financial burden for Indian customers who want to purchase Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, and Bentley vehicles.
India has committed to progressively decrease its import tariffs through the new free trade agreement which it established. The initial phase will implement a tax reduction which applies to a select group of European vehicles which will be charged at approximately 40 percent. The upcoming years will bring additional duty reductions which might bring rates down to approximately 10 percent.
The tax decrease will specifically target luxury vehicles which enter the country as complete units from European countries. The price of premium vehicles which currently require assembly in India will decrease because of this development. European brands will provide their premium sedans, SUVs and sports cars to buyers who will gain the greatest advantages.
The upcoming price reductions will not affect all automobiles at the same instant. The initial tariff reductions will not allow European electric vehicles to enter the market. This policy aims to protect and develop India’s expanding electric vehicle market. The India-EU trade agreement stands as one of India’s major economic treaties which country signed during the last few years. The treaty extends its coverage to multiple industries which include automotive manufacturing and trade of goods and services and investment activities.
The agreement will enable Indian customers to purchase European luxury vehicles at reduced prices. The price decrease process will require multiple years to complete so customers must remain patient until that time.
