SAP SE and Fresenius have announced plans to form a strategic partnership to improve digital healthcare using modern technology and artificial intelligence (AI). The goal is to make healthcare systems more connected, secure, and efficient for hospitals and medical staff around the world.
Together, SAP and Fresenius want to build a strong digital foundation for healthcare. This system will support safe data sharing, protect patient information, and follow strict legal and security rules. The partnership will focus on creating an open and data-driven healthcare platform where AI can be used responsibly to improve patient care.
The companies plan to develop a scalable healthcare platform that connects different parts of the healthcare system. This includes hospitals, medical records, and digital tools. The platform will be based on trusted SAP technologies such as SAP Business Suite, SAP Business Technology Platform, and SAP Business AI. These tools will help hospitals use data better and run AI systems in a controlled and secure way.
A key focus of the partnership is digital sovereignty. This means healthcare data will remain protected and under local control, especially in Europe. The system will support modern hospital software and allow easy connection between hospital systems and electronic medical records using open standards.
SAP CEO Christian Klein said the partnership will help Fresenius use digital and AI tools to improve patient care while keeping data safe. Fresenius CEO Michael Sen said the collaboration will speed up digital change in German and European healthcare and make daily work easier for doctors and hospital teams.
Both companies plan to invest several hundred million euros over the coming years to support this transformation. The partnership will include joint technology development, investments in startups, and close cooperation between SAP and Fresenius.
The aim is clear: better healthcare through secure, simple, and smart digital solutions.
