First Look at GPT-5: What’s New and Better

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has given the world a sneak peek of the upcoming GPT-5 model. In a recent post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he shared a screenshot showing how GPT-5 answers a question. This gives us a first look at how it may be better than GPT-4.

Although OpenAI hasn’t officially confirmed the launch date, many reports suggest that GPT-5 could be released in August 2025. Altman earlier mentioned that GPT-5 will be the first model to combine the GPT-series with the o-series, which includes models like GPT-4o.

In the screenshot, Altman asked GPT-5: “What is the most thought-provoking show about AI?” The model replied with a detailed and spoiler-free list of AI-related shows. It also mentioned where to watch them and gave short summaries of each. This answer was clear, helpful, and more conversational in tone.

To compare, Gadgets360 tried the same question on GPT-4o, which is available for free users. While GPT-4o also gave a good answer, it wasn’t as fluid or engaging as GPT-5. At first glance, GPT-5 seems to do a better job with conversation-style answers, making it feel more natural to talk to.

Another improvement noticed in the GPT-5 response was the use of citations and sources, which GPT-4 didn’t include as often. This could help users trust the information more easily.

There are also rumors that mini and nano versions of GPT-5 might launch later. These lighter versions could be useful for mobile devices or faster performance.

Overall, while we still don’t have detailed test results (benchmarks), this early look shows that GPT-5 may be smarter, smoother, and more reliable than its older version. Users can expect better quality answers and a more user-friendly experience once it officially launches.
